Last updated 18 September 2026

1. Introduction
These terms and conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our website at www.theselfish.co (“website”).
The website is operated by The Selfish.co Ltd, trading as Self(ish), a company incorporated in England and Wales with company number 10957680 and registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, London, WC2H 9JQ (“Self(ish)”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
By using our website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the website.
If you have any questions about these Terms, you can contact us at [email protected].
2. Other terms that may apply
These Terms apply to use of our public website. Some of our services are subject to separate terms and conditions. In particular:
• 1:1 coaching and advisory services are provided under the terms agreed with you when you engage us;
• The Room and Self(ish) Circles are subject to separate Membership Terms and applicable Community Guidelines; and
• contributions to The Invisible Thread are subject to the information and terms provided as part of the research contribution process, including our Invisible Thread Research Privacy Notice and Responsible Research Charter.
If there is any conflict between these Terms and terms specifically agreed for a particular service, the terms applying to that service will take priority in relation to that service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal data when you use the website or app.
3. Using our website
You may use our website to learn about Self(ish), access our content and resources, contact us, enquire about our services and follow links to other services and platforms we use.
The website is intended for adults aged 18 and over.
You must use the website lawfully and must not:
• use it in any way that breaches applicable law or regulation;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, our systems or any account or service connected to them;
• knowingly introduce viruses, malware or other harmful material;
• interfere with the operation or security of the website; or
• use the website or its content in a way that infringes our rights or the rights of another person.
4. Information and content on our website
We take reasonable care over the information and content we publish, but our website is provided for general information only.
Unless we expressly agree otherwise as part of a particular service, content on the website does not constitute legal, medical, psychological, therapeutic, financial, employment or other professional advice. You should obtain appropriate professional advice before taking, or deciding not to take, action based on information available through the website.
Some content may discuss experiences, trends, opinions or research concerning professional life, motherhood, careers and workplaces. This material is intended to inform discussion and should not be treated as advice about any particular individual, organisation or situation.
We may update, change or remove website content from time to time.
5. The Invisible Thread
The Invisible Thread is a research project operated by Self(ish) into the lived experience of professional motherhood.
Information about the research may be available through the website, but research contributions are collected separately through our research contribution form.
If you choose to contribute, the information provided at the point of contribution will explain how your contribution may be collected and used. Our Invisible Thread Research Privacy Notice and Responsible Research Charter contain further information about how we conduct the research and protect contributors.
Nothing on the website or in The Invisible Thread constitutes a complaints or grievance process, legal advice, therapy or coaching, and Self(ish) cannot investigate an employer or take action on a contributor’s behalf.
6. The Room and Self(ish) Circles
The website may contain information about, or allow you to register your interest in, The Room or Self(ish) Circles.
Registering your interest does not guarantee membership or create a membership contract.
If you are invited to join, your membership will be governed by the separate membership terms provided to you before you join. Those terms will deal with matters including membership fees, subscriptions, cancellation, access to member content and services, and the additional arrangements applying to Self(ish) Circles.
7. Coaching and advisory services
The website may allow you to enquire about or book a call in relation to our coaching or advisory services, including through third-party booking services such as Calendly.
Information on the website about our coaching or advisory services does not itself create a contract between you and Self(ish).
If we agree to provide services to you, the scope of those services, fees and other applicable terms will be agreed separately.
8. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the website and the content made available through it, including text, articles, graphics, photographs, branding, designs, resources and other materials, are owned by or licensed to Self(ish) and are protected by intellectual property laws.
You may view, download or print website content for your own personal and non-commercial use.
You must not, without our prior written permission:
• reproduce, republish, distribute or commercially exploit a substantial part of our website or content;
• modify our content and present it as your own;
• remove copyright, trade mark or other ownership notices; or
• use the Self(ish) name, logo or branding in a way that suggests endorsement, association or approval where none exists.
Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you.
9. Linking to our website
You may link to publicly available pages on our website provided you do so fairly and lawfully and do not suggest any form of association, approval or endorsement by Self(ish) where none exists.
You must not frame our website within another website or use our branding or content in a misleading way.
We may ask you to remove a link where we reasonably consider that it is misleading, unlawful or damaging to Self(ish) or another person.
10. Third-party websites and services
Our website contains links to third-party websites, platforms and services. These services are operated by third parties and may have their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control third-party websites or services and are not responsible for their content, availability or practices.
A link from our website does not necessarily mean that we endorse or recommend the third party or everything available through its service.
11. Website availability and security
We aim to keep the website available and operating properly, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free from errors.
We may suspend, withdraw, restrict or change all or part of the website where reasonably necessary, including for maintenance, security, technical or business reasons.
You are responsible for using appropriate security measures when accessing the internet and our website.
12. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
We are responsible to you for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not reasonably foreseeable, or that results from circumstances outside our reasonable control.
If you use the website primarily for business or professional purposes, we will not be responsible for loss of profits, revenue, business, contracts, anticipated savings, data or business opportunity arising from your use of the website.
Nothing in these Terms affects any rights you have under applicable consumer law.
13. Privacy and cookies
Our collection and use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy.
Our website also uses cookies and similar technologies as described in our Privacy Policy and through the cookie settings made available on the website.
The Invisible Thread has a separate Research Privacy Notice dealing with information provided in connection with that research.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example if our website, services or legal requirements change.
The current version will be published on our website and will apply to your use of the website from the date it is published.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer, you will retain any rights you have under applicable law to bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live.
